Nitya Chawla
Biography
Dr. Nitya Chawla is an Associate Professor in the Organisations and Innovations Group at University College London’s School of Management. She earned her Ph.D. in Management from the University of Arizona in 2020, after which she worked at Texas A&M University (2020-2023) and the University of Minnesota (2023-2026). Broadly, Nitya’s research explores issues tied to diversity and inclusion within organizations as well as the importance of employee well-being. As employees’ abilities to thrive in their careers long-term is intricately tied to their early work experiences, Nitya’s research also examines factors that prompt successful job searches.Nitya’s research and teaching have been widely recognized—she was named as a Poets & Quants Top 50 Undergraduate Business School Professors in 2022 and was awarded the Early Career Achievement Award by Academy of Management’s Human Resources Division in 2025.
Nitya’s research has been published in the Academy of Management Review, Journal of Applied Psychology, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, Organization Science, and Personnel Psychology. She is an editorial review board member of the Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Management, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, and Personnel Psychology. Nitya is currently a guest editor at the Journal of Organizational Behavior for the special issue on women’s reproductive health and work as well as the special issue on advancing our understanding of grief in organizations. Within the Academy of Management, Nitya currently serves as Co-Chair of the Organizational Behavior Division’s Making Connections Committee.
