Vidya Murali, author of ‘How to Survive in a Scale-Up Business’ (Routledge, Aug 2025), will join UCL School of Management on Thursday 12 February, for the Business Leaders Speaker Series. Open to the entire UCL and Wharf Connect communities, Vidya will be sharing parts of her book that will inspire and help students, graduates and early career professionals step into roles at startups and scale-ups.
High-growth organisations demand more than technical expertise, they require adaptability, resilience, and emotional intelligence. In this career-focused author talk, Vidya will guide attendees on how to land roles in scale-ups that align with their values and working style, set themselves up for success in the first 90 days through stakeholder mapping, role clarity, and boundary setting, and build confidence navigating fast-moving, hybrid, and unstructured environments.
She will also explore strategies to thrive as a neurodivergent or underrepresented talent and to understand one’s strengths and blind spots as a founder, to create a healthy and high-performing work culture.
With over 20 years of senior leadership experience at high-growth tech firms including Amazon, Deliveroo, and Skyscanner, and an MBA from the University of Cambridge, Vidya specialises in advising and coaching start-up and scale-up leaders, while mentoring early-career professionals to grow in confidence, clarity, and connection.
